The Walking Dead AMC Tonight: Lori's Big Problem
As The Walking Dead fans learned last season, everyone is infected and will become a walking dead when they die. Fans also learned in the first season that most people rapidly developed a fever and died and then to return as the walking dead. Therefore, it stands to reason if Lori’s baby is stillborn or she tries again to abort the baby, her baby will become a walking dead within her-think Alien. We know the transfer of blood through a bite causes the infection to occur in those who survived the initial outbreak. However, we still don’t know how the initial fever was transferred (air, water, smoke, food). There’s a very high probability that the baby will die because most people develop the fever and die, and it would be very gross which is what the show is all about.
In order to save Lori, the survivors will have to discover if the baby is immune like it’s parents and learn the secret of why survivors were not infected. So far, the cast appears to be clueless about this possibility even though Hershel(a veterinarian) should have considered this possibility but Hershel’s optimism has misled the group before. The land of the Walking Dead is not a place for optimists.
Of course, the remaining survivors will have their hands full as well with two new villains scheduled for this season, the return of Merle and the Governor and a boatload of the walking dead. Fan favorite Merle is a great replacement for the loss of the sociopathic Rick of the first two seasons. Fortunately, the survivors are also getting a new hero, Michonne, but maybe what they really need is a microbiologist that’s working in a lab that will not explode on them as occurred last season. Of course, the real secret of this show is it’s more than blood and gore, it’s a morality and survivalist play. The inner demons are just as important to this show as are the outer ones but this season promises to be more action and an increasing warrior spirit among cast members. We only hope the show doesn’t give fans too much of what they want which would result in us caring less about the survivors. The show as been compared to the Unforgiven due to the show’s Wild West quality. Hint. The season premier begins tonight and you will not want to miss the last five minutes!
